Assynt Leisure — Sport, Youth & Learning Centre

Assynt Leisure Building The project was initiated in 1996 following extensive community consultation which identified the demand for local indoor sports facilities. A charity, Assynt Leisure, was established by a committee of volunteers who set about raising funds and commissioning a feasibility study. In order to pool resources, two other local organisations, Assynt Christian Community Youth Project (ACCYP) and Assynt Community Education (ACE) joined forces with Assynt Leisure to build a single centre that would cater for all needs. Architects were commissioned in 2001 to design and manage the building project. Construction began early in 2004 and our new, unique centre Games Hall is now built and open for business, offering something for everyone in our community and testament to the resourcefulness and industry of the people of Assynt.

The project has two complementary aspects: a general sports facility and an area designed to meet the needs of the young people of Assynt and provide opportunities for the wider community to access information technology and training, as well as providing a much needed space for socialisation and the provision of confidential counselling facilities.
